Funeral service for Elsie Reece of Anadarko will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 27, 2007, in the Bethel Baptist Church in Anadarko, OK with Reverend Ray Weathers officiating.

She passed away in Norman, OK, August 22, 2007, just four days before her 93rd birthday.

Elsie Reece was born August 26, 1914 to John (Doc) Fatheree and Rosetta Price Fatheree in Ringling, OK. She grew up near Lawton and Medicine Park, OK, attended Mt. Scott School and the old School House Slue, which is still there today near Lake Lawtonka.

She and William J. (Bill) Reece were married April 30, 1932 in Lawton, OK. They lived in Comanche and Cotton counties, and moved to Caddo County in 1939. They farmed and ranched in the Ft. Cobb and Gracemont areas. They moved to Anadarko in 1945 and later in 1946 made their final move to the home she lived in for 60 years.

She and husband Bill owned and operated the Anadarko Steam Laundry retiring in 1979. After retiring from the laundry business, she worked at Wag-a-Bag for a number of years. She joined the grandparents program through the Anadarko School System and worked as a volunteer for East Grade Elementary School until the age of 90, and received many honors and certificates of recognition. Students there lovingly referred to her as Miss Elsie. She was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church in Anadarko and loved her Sunday school class, Naomi.

Some of her hobbies included sewing, other types of needlework, ceramics, gardening, and as time permitted horseback riding.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, stepson, Willie Lacey Reece and son, Carl Wayne Reece; daughter, Shirley Manthei; son-in-law, Marshall Settle, daughter-in-law, Faye Reece, three brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by one sister, Velva Hilliary of Sparks, NV; five children, Frances Settle, Chickasha, OK; Gwen Moser and husband, Gene of Norman, OK; Tommy Reece and wife Myra of Lubbock, TX; Joyce Reece of Anadarko, OK; Jimmy Reece and wife Paula, Lawton, OK; daughter-in-law Dovie Reece of Broken Bow, OK; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

The family will gather at Steverson Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, August 26, 2007, to greet family and friends.

Interment will be in Memory Lane Cemetery, Anadarko, OK under the direction of Steverson Funeral Home.
