Death of Mrs. Amanda Bynum, Pioneer Lady was born in this city 75 years ago, Demise Occurred at home of her daughter, Mrs. Margaret Martin, Early This morning
Mrs. Amanda Daugherty Bynum, one of the pioneer women of Clinton county and Frankfort, died this morning at 3:20 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Margaret Martin, on South Jackson street.
Death was due to heart trouble from which the deceased had suffered for the past two years. However, her condition had not been considered critical until the past week. Deceased was seventy-five years of age.
She was born in this city, in a small frame structure near the present site of the Frankfort high school building, January 31, 1835. She was influential in many ways and up until her last illness was active and much interested in affairs of the day.
She was united in marriage to William P. Bynum, in this city, November 16, 1859, and to this union were born seven children, all of who survive.
They are Mrs. Martin and Mrs. Mary Caldwell of this city, Mrs. Florence Jackson, Mrs. Emily Riley and Edward Bynum of Crawfordsville, and Mrs. Ridla Watkins and Samuel Bynum of this county. One brother, Harvey R. Brookie and one sister, Mrs. Katherine Love, both of this county, also survive.
She was a charter member of the Sugar Creek Presbyterian church and was a noble christian woman.
The funeral services will be conducted Thursday morning at 11 o'clock from the Sugar Creek church and internment will be at the Buntin cemetery.
