Arlene Alexander

Arlene Zita McWain Alexander, 69, of Mooresville, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002 at her home.

Born July 9, 1932 in Detroit, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Keith and Caroline Yaklin McWain.

Mrs. Alexander was married to Phi Alexander, who preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1991.

She is survived by three sons, Phillip A. Alexander and Cress Alexander, both of Mooresville, and Flynn Alexander of Lawrenceville, Ga.; three daughters, Carolyn Alexander and Nancy Alexander, both of Mooresville, and Frances Chavers of Mt. Ulla; a brother, Frank McWain of Salt Lake City, Utah; two sisters, Ruth Stoelting of Stuart, Fla. and Fay Colmar-Preece of Fullerton, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. today (Friday), Feb. 1 at St. Therese Catholic Church with Father James McAndrews officiating. Burial will be in Willow Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.

He was an avid gardener and known for his "green" thumb, planting flowers and vegetables. He was a huge Duke Basketball fan and loved music. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Arlene Alexander. He is survived by step children, William Bowen, Annie Bowen, and Stacie Fuller; sisters, Carolyn Annette Alexander, Frances Alexander Chavers; brothers, Phil A. Alexander (Nina), Daniel "Flynn" Alexander; nieces, Hayley Elizabeth Alexander, Blair Alexander Knox; nephews, Phillip Shea Alexander, Daniel Gerard Alexander; great niece, Hallie Knox; and great nephew, Maddox Alexander. A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, June 22 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel with Robert Craig officiating.
