Robert (Bob) A. Frank, 82, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at the Beatrice Community Hospital. Bob was born on February 21, 1928 to Harry J. Frank and Shirley A. (Baker) Frank. Bob attended District 15 rural school for eight years and graduated from Carleton High School in 1945. He then enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served as an aerial photographer and nose gunner on a B-25 aircraft. He was honorably discharged after World War II and then attended Peru State College for three and a half years. Bob was then appointed acting Postmaster in Carleton, NE, Head Postmaster, and rural mail carrier; serving in the postal department for 42 years before his retirement.

He was united in marriage to Lenora I. Frank on April 25, 1952. This union was blessed with one daughter, Linda Sue, and one son, James Allen. Bob served as Boy Scoutmaster for 30 years in Carleton and was District Commander for three years. He was a Wood Badge, Order of the Arrow, and Eagle Scout. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church for 50 plus years serving in numerous capacities. He was on the Carleton Volunteer Fire Department for many years and also served as an EMT. Bob was an avid fisherman, golfer, traveler, and collector. Some of his collections are in the Thayer County Museum in Belvidere, NE and his Carleton "town team" baseball uniform is displayed at the Citizens State Bank in Carleton. Bob and Lenora moved to the Villa at Flowing Springs in Beatrice, NE in 2003. Bob was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and so enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be missed dearly.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Shirley Frank and one grandson, Christopher Jordan Sattler. Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lenora, his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Greg Sattler of Cortland; his son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Barb Frank of Urbandale, Iowa. Grandchildren: Barton and Lisa Sattler of Manchester, CT; Kristin Sattler of Cortland, and Jonathan Frank of Iowa City IA and Alex Frank of Urbandale, Iowa. Along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Funeral Services: Monday, April 5, at 10:30 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, Carleton, Nebraska

Interment: Carleton City Cemetery, Carleton, NE
