George is my 4x great grandfather
George H. Goodwin was married to Elizabeth Watson Goodwin. George and Elizabeth's children are: Martha Ann Goodwin Thompson, William A., Tabitha Goodwin, Sarah Jane Goodwin Vickers, Willis Henry, Mary Ann Goodwin West, Lee Anna Goodwin Chandler, Burrell G., Serilda Goodwin Rainey, Joseph A., and Thomas.
George's parents were Henry Goodwin and Sara Jane Kennedy. Siblings are: Sherley W, Elizabeth Jane Goodwin Gage, Anna Goodwin Ritter, Robert, Andrew Wesley, Joseph, Susan Goodwin Stokes, and Wilson.
The Goodwin's were early settlers near Wells, Cherokee County, Tx.
According to census record research, George H. Goodwin was born about 1818 in Wilkes County, Georgia and died about April 1886 Cherokee County, Tx. He is buried at Shook's Bluff Cemetery according to a book written about the Shook's Bluff area by John N. Cravens. There are several graves at Shook's Bluff marked with clay pipes and rock, but nothing I could find w/ George H. and Elizabeth Goodwin's name on it. Also, I want to note that John Cravens sometimes refers to the Shook's Bluff area in his book as "Goodwin-Town".
