Jay T. Adams 1920 ~ 2006 KAYSVILLE - Throughout the course of life many people look to sports icons, movie stars, and so on, as their heroes. For us we look in a different direction, more tangible, more real, and close to home. Jay T. Adams is our hero. He fought in World War II to defend our country and freedom. He fought to stay righteous and pure. He fought sickness and pain. We can stand and say he is a true modern day hero. He fought the good fight. He never lost sight of the purpose of life. He is a man of God. A modern day icon. For the man he is we will forever be grateful. Thanks be to a loving Heavenly Father for such a friend, husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa.

Jay T. Adams, age 86, was born in Layton, Utah to Edgar Fanning and Mabel Ella Knighton Adams July 29, 1920. He married the love of his life, Afton Ray, in the Salt Lake Temple April 17, 1946. He was a true example of love and devotion. They were blessed with two daughters whom he treasured. He was surrounded by loved ones on the day of his passing, Nov. 30, 2006.

He loved fishing, traveling, hunting, and baseball. He loved to garden, and raised horses, cows, and sheep. But most of all, he loved his "sweetheart" with whom he spent 60 precious years. He was a dedicated example of how two hearts can be one as he was always happy to have Afton by his side.

He was an example of service as he served with his wife at the Bishop's Storehouse, the Ogden Visitors Center, and in various callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He retired from Hill Air Force Base with many years of service with the federal government. His patriotism and dedication to his country was generously passed on to his family. He liked to tease and joke around. He could put a smile on your face and love in your heart as he supported and encouraged his family in all their endeavors and activities.

He is survived by his wife, Afton Ray Adams; daughters, Carolyn (Blaine) Pierson, and Rae Jean (Rick) Robinson of Kaysville; 10 beautiful grandchildren; 11 precious great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lane K. (Iona) Adams of Clearfield, Ardell (Charlene) Adams, serving an LDS mission; and two sisters, Vira Beus of Syracuse, and LaVon Coop of Clearfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers.

The family wishes to express love and appreciation to the angels of Lifepath Hospice, especially Lynn and Courtney, for their tender and loving care.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006 at the LDS Kaysville 13th Ward chapel, 875 East 200 North. Friends and family may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main, and Tuesday 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
