Helen Mae Bettis, daughter of Robert Woodworth & Clethia (Moore) Woodworth, was born July 26, 1922 in Johnson County, Illinois. She departed this life Monday evening, April 18, 2005 at 7:40 PM at the Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, IL.At the time of her passing, Helen had attained the age of 82 years, 8 months & 23 days.

Helen was united in marriage to Jessie Bettis in St. Clair County, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1999.

Survivors include: 2 Stepsons – Larry Bettis of Girard, IL & David Bettis of Caseyville, IL; 2 Grandsons – Kenny Stratton of Girard, IL & Charlie Bettis of Girard, IL; 3 Granddaughters – Becky Bettis of Cahokia, IL, Crystal Bettis of Girard, IL, & Lori Osbourne of Girard, IL; 7 Grandchildren; 3 Brothers – Bob Woodworth of Carrier Mills, IL, Joe Woodworth of Aurora, IL, Richard Woodworth of Vienna, IL; 4 Sisters – Ruby Corzine of Caseyville, IL, Mary Turner of Vienna, IL, Della Strother of Caseyville, IL & Dorothy Lowery of Caseyville, IL; A host of Nieces & Nephews. A Sister – Marie Edwards; followed Helen to eternal life approximately six hours later: passing away on April 19, 2005.

In addition to her parents & husband, Helen was preceded in death by: a Son – Larry Stratton; 3 Brothers – Lee, Raymond & Ben Woodworth.

Helen retired from the Obearnester Glass Company in East St. Louis, IL after several years of service. She was of the Baptist Faith. Helen enjoyed playing bingo & visiting with her family & friends.

Helen leaves her family & many dear friends to cherish her memory.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning, April 22, 2005 at 11 AM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Rev. Richard Martin will officiate. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery, north of Vienna.

Friends may call after 6 PM Thursday evening at the Bailey Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Greater Midwest Affiliate, Memorials & Tributes Program, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674.
