A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 29 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera for Beatrice "Bea" (Rodgers) Hammond, 83, Durant, who died Friday, March 26, 2010, at King's Daughters & Sons Nursing Home in Durant. Darrell Edwards will officiate.
The daughter of James Henry and Goldie Wilma (Thornhill) Rodgers, she was born Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1926, in Pleasant Hill.
Beatrice, also known as "Bea," enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her great-grandchildren. She married Ted Hammond on Dec. 1, 1945, in Sherman, Texas.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, infant daughter Shelia Hammond, grandson Terry Hammond, sister Berdie Grider, and brothers Tom Rodgers and Chub Rodgers.
Survivors include sons Jim and wife Carolyn, and John and wife Betty, all of Durant; grandsons Kerry and wife Dena, and Kevin and wife Mandy, all of Durant, Jimmy and wife Staci and Mike and wife Elaine, all of Calera, Joe and wife Dodie, Muskogee, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
