Eugene Lionel "Sonny" Fleury died at his home in Claremont, NH on May 15, 1993 after a brief illness. He was born on March 10, 1922 in Claremont; the son of Eugene and Gladys (Vadney) Fleury.

He was a lifelong resident of Claremont. He was a self employed contractor in construction and hot top paving. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No 1201 and the Elks Lodge 879. He also held memberships in the Antique Motorcycles of America, the Sugar Valley Snowmobile Riders, the New England Antique Racers, and was a former New England chainsaw champion. He won the New England Dirt Track Championship in 1967 as the owner of Car 32 driven by Howard Stevens. Since 1968, he has owned and operated the Claremont Speedway.

He married Elsie (Harriman) Bean on January 10, 1958 in Claremont.

Surviving is his wife of Claremont; three daughters Sherrie Fleury and Joan Honney both of Claremont and Muriel M Fleury of Rochester; son Richard D Bean of Miami, FL; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three sisters Arlene Denis of Claremont, Josephine Daniels of Newport, NH, and Mildred Willett of Winchester; and two brothers Arthur Fleury of Claremont and Richard Fleury of Rochester.

Burial is in Union Cemetery.
