Anna E. Case Laid to Rest

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna E. Case, age 87, many years a resident of this community, were held February 28th at MacPhee Funeral Home, Farmington, with Rev. George Bell, officiating. Burial was in Corinthian Cemetery at Farmington.
Pallbearers were, Tommy Case, Larry and Garry Case, Jim Lorenz, grandsons; Roger Clay and Elmer Broseth.
Mrs. Case died early Monday, Feb. 26, 1962 in Sanford hospital from pneumonia and complications, after being confined there for one week. She had been in failing health for about two years.
Anna E. Blaska was born June 11, 1874 in Shenivere, Austria and she came to this country when a child with her parents, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. They settled in northern Iowa, where they farmed. She grew into womanhood in that community and was married to Ziph A. Case, 69 years ago.
They continued to reside in Iowa and moved in 1916 from St. Ansgar, Iowa to the Culver farm just east of Farmington (now the George Betzold Jr. farm). Mr. Case died in 1917, and his sons continued to operate the farm. They resided on several other farms in the area and presently Mrs. Case lived with her son Ziph on their farm, the former Balch farm, east of here.
Mrs. Case was a remarkable woman for her age. Up to the last week of her life, she took care of her household duties and needle work of all kinds was her hobby. Mrs. Case recently made a room-size rug, which was hand braided.
She also loved to do gardening and any summer day she could be seen, wearing a big straw hat, handling a rake or a hoe with apparent ease and grace.
Mrs. Case enjoyed reading and had a keen interest in national and local news. She loved to visit her many friends and she carried on a most interesting conversation with young and old alike.
Mrs. Case was a member of the Methodist Women's Assn. at Farmington.
Survivors are, 8 sons: Phin, Sam and Floyd of Minneapolis; Carl of St. Paul; Ben of Hastings; Humphrey, Ziph and Barney of Farmington; 3 daughters, Lydia Stoffer of Faribault; Florence Niesen of Cannon Falls; Dolly Corbett, who resides at the Hague, Holland; 28 grandchildren; 45 g-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Susan Schweyen of Mt. Rose, Calif., Christine Benedict of Palmdale, Calif.; Mary Avery of Alma, Iowa; Tillie Reynolds of Cresco, Iowa; 3 brothers, Charles and Vince Blaska of Charles City, Iowa and Steve Blaska of Eugene, Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter Zada Royce and one sister, Lena in Iowa.
