Flora E. Taylor, 89, of Salem died Wednesday, September 17, 1997, in Salem.

Mrs. Taylor was born on December 5, 1909, in Winona, MO., to James Franklin and Florence Whicker. The family moved to Ripley, Oklahoma around 1922, where she graduated from high school in 1926. On October 15, 1930, she married Arthur Taylor in Claremore, Oklahoma. He died earlier. they lived in Cushing, Oklahoma and Lawrence, Kansas before moving to Seaside during the early part of World War II. After the war, the couple moved to Warrenton. Mrs. Taylor was an active member of the Methodist church and served as the church treasurer for many years. Mrs. Taylor was also a member of the Warrenton Garden Club and served as president. She was well-known for her flower arrangements and won many blue ribbons in various flower shows around the state.

In alter years, the Taylors joined Philadelphia Church in Hammond and were active in the senior group.

In 1992, Mr. Taylor was killed in a car accident and Mrs. Taylor was seriously injured. After a six-month convalescence, she returned to live in her home in Warrenton. During this time, she continued to bake goodies and drive for the church welcoming program.

In July 1996, she moved to Madrona Hills Retirement Center in Salem. There, she took part in many activities. She suffered a stroke on September 14, and died on the 17th.
