David Perry Tunstall
Passed away on Monday, August 14, 2000 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Savannah, GA.
He was born in Salem, AR on February 3, 1909. He attended school in Eddy, TX and graduated from Texas A & M in 1930 with a degree in electrical engineering. He worked for Commonwealth Edison from 1930 until his retirement in 1975. David was a retired Lt. Col. in the Army serving during World War II where he was assigned to the Elwood Ordinance Plant in its early stages. He received a commendation from the Under Secretary of War for his work in dealing with the explosion. He later served in the Middle East. David was a Deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Joliet. He enjoyed playing bridge, bowling and watching the Cubs. He was a world traveler, visiting 76 countries and all of the continents including Antarctica.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine L. (nee Bigelow) Tunstall (1993).
David is survived by his three sons, David (Donna) of Raleigh, NC, Dan (Jo) of Bethesda, MD and Dick (Kathleen) Tunstall of Trumball, CT; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, (805 Western Ave., Joliet, IL) on Saturday, August 26, 2000 at 10 am. Pastor Craig Herr officiating. Interment in First Presbyterian Church Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Alzheimer's Association, 919 N. Michigan Ave., Ste 1100, Chicago, IL 60611 (800-272-3900), would be appreciated.
