Funeral services will be held Sunday at Fletcher Chapel for Jacob Adams, 62, a resident of Cass County for nearly 50 years, who died at 7 o'clock Thursday morning in the Atlantic Hospital from kidney complications. Mr. Adams, whose home is south of Fletcher Chapel, had been ill for the past week and had been a patient in the hospital for four days. He was born Dec. 24, 1876, in Cass County, a son of Eli and Emma Adams. He spent 13 of the early years of his life in Missouri and was married Feb. 22, 1889 [sic] at Cumberland to Mattie Gertrude Howell. He spent his entire married life in Iowa. Mr. Adams is survived by his widow; two children, Mrs. Pearl Nichols of Griswold and Kenneth Adams of Lewis; a grandson, Vernon Adams of Lewis; a brother, Fred, of Cumberland; and three sisters, Mrs. Ella Cranston of Lewis, Mrs. Martha Marsh and Mrs. Nettie Cole of Kansas. A sister and a brother preceded him in death. The services will be at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Fletcher Chapel with the Rev. A. Breeling of Lewis officiating. Burial will be at the Weirich Cemetry in Noble Township. The body will lie in state at the family home until the hour of the rites. ATLANTIC (Iowa) NEWS-TELEGRAPH, 1 Dec, 1939.
