Jeptha is the son of Christopher Chambless and Mary Taylor.

Jeptha married Susan Jones on March 3, 1819, in Talbot County. Their children were:

Susan and some of the children moved to Hernando, DeSota County, Mississippi, after Jeptha's death. She is said to have been buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Hernando. I was unable to locate a marked grave at Oak Grove Cemetery.
