Funeral Services were conducted at Emmerson's Chapel Beaumont, Saturday for Mrs. Mary Ann Wills, Palo Verde Valley resident for 37 years.
The services were conducted by elders of the Mormon church, and by Rev.Groman of the First Baptist Church of Banning. Mrs. Willis passed Wednesday evening December 9 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Beatrice Meyers, of Banning. Pneumonia was given as the cause of death. She had been living at Beaumont for the past month.
Mrs. Wills' son, Thomas Raine, and family, of Blythe, did not receive the message of Mrs. Willis' death until Friday, and as they had to leave immediately, they were not able to inform the many friends of the deceased, of her sudden passing. Thus, none were able to attend the funeral.
Mrs. Willis was born at Faversham England, 71 years ago. She came to Utah at the age of five, and spent her early years there. She came to Blythe 37 years ago. Mr. Willis preceded her in death in 1931.
At the request of her daughter, interment followed the services at the Beaumont cemetery. The deceased had asked that no flowers be sent for assitance to the nation's armed forces.
Mrs. Willis is survived, in addition to her son here, by another son, Luther M. Raine, of Los Angeles, three daughters, Mrs. Meyers, of Beaumont, Mrs. Olive Buck of Akron, Ohio, Mrs. Mary Erickson of Richfield, Utah; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Walker, of Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Alice Stone, of Riverton, Utah, and one brother, Frank Webb of Salt Lake City. In addition there are several grandchildren. Mrs. Willis was active in the First Baptist church for a number of years and was known to hundreds for her many good deeds to those in distress.
