Henrietta Crail was born in Gardnerville in Pendleton Co, Kentucky. With her parents she moved to Jasper County, Illinois where she spent the rest of her life. She and William Foster were married at her parents home on 24 Aug 1842 in Jasper County. Her children were William Sherman, Harry Franklin, Winnifred Dean, Evaline, Charles Lawrence, Augusta, Olive, Frances, and Arthur Garfield. She was widowed in 1884 when the youngest of her 9 children was 3 years old. She raised her children alone. She was nearly 90 when she died. She is buried at Riverside Cemetery, Newton, Illinois.
