Albert L. Bonney Sr., 78, of the 4000 block of N. Witchduck Road, died April 20, 1995, in Sentara Leigh Hospital.
Mr. Bonney, a native of Princess Anne County, was a well-known businessman in the area for most of his life. He was a former city councilman and was active in the civic affairs of Virginia Beach.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Evamae I. Bonney; two sons, Albert Lee Bonney Jr. and wife, Nettie, of Virginia Beach and Larry Ray Bonney and wife, Judy, also of Virginia Beach; a grandson, Albert Lee Bonney III and wife, Lorrie; a granddaughter, Kimberly Bonney Berger and husband, Jay; four great-grandchildren, Albert Lee Bonney IV and Katherine Bonney, Brandon and Chris Berger; four nephews, Vernon, Fred, Clinton and William Bonney; and a cousin, Melva Ives.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Kellum Funeral Home, Pleasant Hall/Kempsville Chapel, by the Rev. John Shappell. Entombment will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Virginia Beach Unit, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23513, or to a favorite charity. The family will receive friends at the residence, 4012 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, following the entombment.
