Alan B. Larson,75, of Cook, died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 16, 2006, at the Cook Hospital. Alan was born December 19, 1930, at Cook, Minnesota; the son of Nels and Lillian (Beatty) Larson. He grew up in Cook and graduated from the Cook High School in 1948. After high school he served in the Army. After his tour of duty, he returned back to Cook where he worked for Picek Construction for many years. He married Lois Refsdal on May 9, 1959 in Cook. Alan, along with friend Bob Watt formed Larson-Watt Construction. They built numerous homes, along with other building projects in the area and on Lake Vermilion. Alan loved to be around people and was known for his smile and quick wit, and liked coffee time with the guys. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and spending time at the family cabin on Lake Vermilion. The joy and pride of his life was his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, Rhoda Carlson, twin sisters; Eileen Haataja and Irene Popovich.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cook. Visitation will be Sunday from 6 – 8 PM at the Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook and one hour prior to the services at the church. Rev. Reuben Rosnau of the Evangelical Covenant Church will officiate. Interment will be in the Cook Community Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the combined honor guards of the Cook Veterans of Foreign Wars Post#1757 and Orr American Legion Post #480. The Pianist will be Shirley Rosnau.
