Margaret McArthur Evans Hobbs Age 88, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of north Wilmington, DE, died January 29, 2006, at the Carriage Club, where she had been a resident of the Arbors. She was born October 30, 1917 in Scotland, daughter of the late John and Jeanie Forrest Evans. Margaret had been a volunteer for the American Red Cross, serving as chairman of nursing services in Parkersburg, WV, and as a coordinator at the Caswell Center School in Kinston, NC. She was a member of the Chipley bible class at Providence United Methodist Church in Charlotte, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Eugene Hobbs. Survivors include her sons, James M. Hobbs, and his wife, Leigh, and Barry E. Hobbs, and his wife, Cindy; grandchildren, Kallie Hobbs and Jamie Long; step-grandchildren, Deborah Ornellas and John Smith; and 8 great grand-children. She immigrated from Scotland in 1926 with her Mother,Jennie father,John and brothers-John Jr,James C., Hamilton and sister, Jean. Friends may call beginning at 10:30 am on Thursday, February 2, at the Chapel in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. Dupont Pkwy., New Castle, DE, where the funeral service will be held at 11 am. Burial will be in the adjoining memorial park.
