While shooting a well for the Baston & Southwestern Oil Co., at Red Bush, Johnson County, last Thursday morning an explosion occurred which killed James Sexton, aged 33, of this county, Farm Boss and Elmer Claypool, aged 68 of Ohio, the shooter for the Kentucky Glycerin Company. The cause of the accident was unknown as there were no others present at the well.
Sexton was the son of Mint Sexton, of Rogers Grove, and had been working in the oil fields for several years. He married Miss Jewel Frogge, a daughter of Tim Frogge, and besides his widow is survived by three small children. He is also survived by three brothers, Leo, Emery and Sherman Sexton; two sisters, Mrs. Ed Isbell and Mrs. Ed Burnett.
His remains, accompanied by his widow and children, Mrs. Sam Barnes and James Hicks arrived here Sunday morning, and after funeral services at the family home by Rev. Pierce Kidd, the remains were brought to Elk Spring Cemetery for burial.
