Our wonderful Grandpa, Jay Richard Bell, 84, slipped sweetly into the eternities on Thursday, March 25, 2010, in the company of his sweetheart of nearly sixty years, Jacque.

Jay was born July 24, 1925 to Albert W. and Janie Sander Bell in Ogden, Utah.

After completing high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and went on to serve in the Navy. He then attended law school at George Washington University.

Always to be found whistling, humming, or singing, Grandpa's love of music led him into a church choir practice in Washington, DC, where he would set eyes on the love of his life, Jacque. Jay and Jacque were married in the Logan, Utah temple on August 25, 1950. Theirs was a marriage of great report; a special type of love that was often noticed and pointed out by those who know and love them. Together they practiced law for fifty years.

During that time they raised three children and instilled in them the same wonderful principles of love and hard work that made their own marriage so exemplary. Jay and his "Girl" traveled the world together, but loved most to be at the home they built at Zion National Park and at the beach in Carlsbad. And no setting was ever complete for Grandpa without a hint of Mozart in the background.

Jay served in many capacities in the LDS Church and shared his testimony with those around him both in word and by his loving example and jovial attitude. His beautiful prayers, encouraging (albeit repetitive) pep talks, energetic smile, and tight hugs will be deeply missed.

Jay is survived by his sweetheart, Jacque; son, Jay Benson (Zita) Bell; daughters, Jacque Lynn (Bart) Poulson, JiJi (Randy) Perkins; and ten grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. in the Mount Olympus First Ward Chapel, 4635 South Lanark Road (3315 East), Millcreek Township, UT. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral from 10:45-11:45 a.m. Friends may also call at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 East Bengal Boulevard (7600 South), on Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Interment will follow the funeral in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
