This is probably a cenotaph. Mr Garris is buried in Denmark with his wife and son. see 94077410.
Calvin William Garris was born in Smoaks, took charge of the school there, was fairly prominent. The family has a history in that part of Colleton county, and I presume that someone added this stone to complete the family circle-but I dont know, what *is* the point of cenotaphs?
