Wilburn Abbitt Puts in a Week of in a Very Sensational Manner.
Wilburn Abbitt, an eighteen-year-old son of Wesley Abbitt, residing one mile north of Gladsen, was arrested at his home Tuesday by S.F. Cox and C.C. Himes, of the local horse thief detective association. He is charges with horse stealing and his efforts in this line seem to have been of a peculiar nature.....The mare was found in Abbitt's possession when he was arrested. Its mane had been clipped and it also had been branded....The horse that belonged to Davis was discovered yesterday morning in the possession of some horse traders near Hazelrigg. It was restored to its owner as was also the mare....(The Lebanon Patriot - Thurs., May 24, 1900, pg. 1)

Wilburn Abbitt, the young man who stole the livery horse and rig at Crawfordsville, plead guilty at Tipton last Thursday and was sentenced to the reformatory from one to 14 years. (Jamestown Press - Fri., June 1, 1900, pg. 1)

Aged twenty three, son of John W. And Sarah J. Abbitt, well known residents of Union Township, committed suicide at the home of his parents one mile north of Gadsden Wed. morning, blowing the top of his head off with a shot gun. Interment at Oak Hill. (Lebanon Pioneer Mon., June 9, 1904)
