Graveside services for Edward A. Gustin, 82, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, in Mount Hope Cemetery. Following the services, everyone is invited to join the family for lunch at the Best Western Inn.
He died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006, at Wind River Rehabilitation following a long illness.
He was born July 19, 1924, in Hudson, the second of five children to Edward A. and Ula (Haynes) Gustin. He attended schools in Hudson and Lander, graduating from Lander High School.
He enjoyed mineral prospecting and was a member of the first oil exploration team to Alaska in 1957, where he spent the year exploring the state.
He lived in Wyoming, Colorado and Arizona operating ranches, and returned to Riverton in 2000.
Survivors include his son, Melvin E. Gustin and his wife of Riverton; daughter,. Mary (Gustin) Howard and her husband of Redmond, Ore.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas Gustin of Buffalo; one sister-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, E. Dean Gustin and Hugh Gustin; and sister, Bessie (Gustin) Otte.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Stephens Mission Foundation, P.O. Box 278, St. Stephens, WY 82524; or to the Machaseh Child Ranch P.O. Box 160, Pavillion, WY 82523
