Arnold Robbins, age 17, was living in Brownstown, with his maternal grandparents and their children, according to the 1940 Federal census. He was attending Brownstown High School and was ultimately a member of the graduating class of 1940.
In the 1940 Brownstown High School yearbook it said of Arnold "Tatch" Robbins that:
"He is a lad both brave and bold
Who seldom does what he is told."
Arnold Robbins was involved in Baseball 2, 3, 4; Yell Club 4; Bear News 4; and Softball 2, 3, 4.
It is not known when Arnold Robbins enlisted in the U.S. Navy, but he was listed on the muster roll for the commissioning report dated March 14, 1945, when the U.S.S. Sitka (APA-113), a Bayfield class attack transport. His rank was MM3C (machinist mate) was launched.
Arnold Wayne Robbins and Anna L. Altmeyer applied for a marriage license in Marion County, Indiana, and it was published in The Indianapolis News in the June 26, 1946, edition page 25.
It is known from the obituaries for James Lee McHargue and Allie Beatrice McHargue, that they listed Arnold Robbins as a son.

Services for Arnold Wayne "Tatch" Robbins, 72, Indianapolis, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Flanner & Buchanan Morris Street Mortuary, with calling until 9 tonight. Mr. Robbins, who died Monday, worked for the Department of Public Works 34 years, retiring in 1981 as a superintendent. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Memorial contributions may be made to West 10th Street Division of Roudebush VA Medical Center. Survivors – wife Anna Lavina Robbins; two sons, one daughter, brother Roy McHargue; sister Norma Jean Moon; seven grandchildren.
