The book, Shepherd of the Hills, written by Harold Bell Wright is a fictional book about the lives of the people living in the Ozarks of Missouri. Wright had TB and went to the Ozark for recuperate. He came to the homestead of John and Anna Ross due to a flooded river. They allowed him to set up a camp. Wright began writing a book about the people of the Ozarks. The Shepherd of the Hills, was Wright himself. He gave John and Anna Ross the names of Matt and Molly Matthews in his writings. Matthews was not their real names.
