Catherine's parents were Benjamin Stansberry Hardin and Nancy Murchison Cook and she was one of five children born to this couple in Wayne County, TN. Benjamin died in 1881 and Nancy remarried to Solomon Smith Hudiburg.
When the children of both parents moved into Sol's home in Olive Hill, it wasn't a very good mix. But Catherine and Sol's son Joseph A. really liked each other and on 29 Sept 1888, "Kate" and Joe eloped. There was unhappiness among the family about this marriage especially from "Kate's" brother John. But it proved to be a good marriage.
Kate and Joe had five children: Hardin Earl, Anna, Mary Lee, Joseph Aubrey and Thelma. All the children were born in Hardin Co., TN. except Thelma, who was born in Oklahoma (then Indian Territory) on 2 Oct 1903, after their move there. Joe would die in 1934 on their farm in Paden, Oklahoma and Kate would join him when she died in the hospital in Prague, one year later.
