Violet Dorothy was born to Frank and Josephine Segar on Jan. 13, 1920 in Wells, MN. She graduated from Wells High School in 1937 and from Santa Rosa School of Nursing, San Antonio, Texas, with a Registered Nurse degree in 1941. Violet met Edmund Ignatius Adamietz in Bandera, Texas. She joined the Army Nurse Corps in 1942, and served as a 1st Lieutenant in the Philippines and throughout Europe until the end of World War II in 1945 when she received an honorable discharge. Violet and Eddie were married in Bandera on May 8, 1946. They moved to Hobbs, New Mexico in 1954, where Violet worked as a floor nurse at Lea General Hospital. She served as Public Health Nurse for Lea County from 1958 through 1982. Violet and Eddie enjoyed their retirement by traveling throughout the United States and working in wood.
Eddie preceded Violet in death in 1999. She relocated to Arlington in 2005.
Violet is survived by four children, Bill Adamietz of Arlington, Jill Heath of Memphis, TN, Jo Allen, DVM of San Angelo and Becky Adamietz of Fort Worth; five grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and a sister, Adelia Ellig of Redwood Falls, MN.
Services for Violet D. Adamietz will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2010, in the Chapel of Griffin Funeral Home in Hobbs.
Interment will follow in Prairie Haven Cemetery where services will be performed by American Veteran Honor Guard.
