He was first married to Louisia Huntsman and their chidren were James Walter Sandlin 1877 – 1949; Una Edith Sandlin 1880 – 1940; Rutherford Sandlin 1882 – 1882; Oma Sandlin 1883 – 1952; Pauline Sandlin 1886 – 1909; Morris Sandlin 1889 – 1969; Abraham Sandlin 1891 – 1931; Abe Sandlin 1891 – 1931; Dallas Frederic Sandlin 1893; Frederick C Sandlin 1893 – 1895; and Meda Sandlin 1895 – 1922.
