Albert James Hunt died at his residence Wednesday at 8:50 PM following a brave fight with pneumonia. He was 79 years old. He was born February 8, 1866, in Martock, Somerset, England, a son of George and Priscilla Hill Hunt. He grew to manhood in the beautiful countryside of Southern England. He was the oldest of twelve children. In 1889, at the age of 23, he and his brother, Charles, immigrated to the United States. He spent the next three years working and pinching pennies to collect enough money to send for the rest of his family. He purchased a farm in Midvale, Utah, for the family. Finally in 1891, his parents and the other children left England for the United States. He was an devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. From 1908 until 1910 he served a church mission in England. While on his mission, in England, he met and fell in love with Florence Maude Cooke. In 1910, he returned to the United States. Florence remained in England. After several years of waiting, in part to save funds for her trip, Florence was ready to immigrate to the United States. But with the outbreak of World War I, the British government would not issue passports because the Atlantic Ocean was filled with mines. She then was drafted to work in the munitions factories. The couple waited ten long years and finally, in April of 1920, Florence left England, and she and Albert were married on September 8, 1920, in the Salt Lake Temple. He made his living as a farmer and a shepherd in the Rocky Mountains of Wyoming. He will always be remembered as a kind and gentle-man. He had five children, George, Lawrence, Melvin, Rebecca and Alena.
