Mary Irene Plainte, 68, of Bardin, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, at her residence following an extended illness. She was born in Bolivar, Mo., and had moved to Palatka recently from Tampa. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the first Baptist Church of Seffner. She enjoyed crafts and flower gardening. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Walter Thomas Adams, and Frederick Plainte; and one great-grandchild. She is survived by three sons, Lucien Thomas Adams, John Randall Adams, and Daniel Lee Adams, all of Tampa; four daughters, Diana Key Smith of Tampa, Pamela Strickland and Sandra Peeterse both of Dothan, Ala., and Julia Rogers of Bardin; four step-sons; two step-daughters; two brothers, Harlan O'Dell, and Lucian O'Dell, both of Oregon, Ark., one sister, Maxine Freihage of Bullhead City, Ariz,; 25 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be 10:30 Monday at the First Baptist Church of Seffner with the Rev. Terry Lowe officiating. Burial will follow at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. Visitation hours begin at 9:30 a.m. at the church on Monday. Masters Funeral Home of Palatka is in charge of arrangements.
