He was a well known farmer of the Moffatts Creek, Virginia area. On 8 November 1889 he was at the Academy Building in Brownsburg the day his father was stabbed to death. David was shot in the back and wasn't expected to live. Through his strong determination he was able to recover from his wound and lived to be eighty years old.
