Robert R. Centner Sr., 69, of Plantation Point died Sunday, April 26, 1998, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Born Nov. 4, 1928, in Chicago, he was a son of the late Reinhold Centner and Angeline Baselier Centner. Mr. Centner moved to Myrtle Beach in 1978 from Palatine, Ill., where he was a police officer for 23 years, serving 11 years as chief of police. He was a Marine veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Centner was a retired real estate broker in Myrtle Beach and a council member and usher at St. Philip's Lutheran Church. A funeral was held at St. Philips Lutheran Church in Myrtle Beach with Pastor Dennis Setzer officiating. Survivors include his wife, Doris Niemann Centner; three sons, Steven, Robert Jr. and Jeffrey; two daughters, Sandra, and Jennifer.
