Kanabec County Times (Mora, MN), 1 December 1927, page 4: "Services Held For Grass Lake Lady. Funeral services for Mrs. P. A. Eklund of Grass Lake township, who died November 17, a after a long illness, were held Monday, November 21 at one o'clock from the home and at two o'clock from the Grasston Baptist Church. Rev. A. Paulson of that church officiated. The remains were laid to rest in the Grass Lake Baptist cemetery. The pallbearers were: John R. Johnson, O. J. Satterstrom, E. G. Olson, John Thunberg, Olof Lovaas, and Nels Sutherland. At the home service Miss Alice Olson and Mrs. Gust Hellzen rendered vocal selections. At the church Miss Olson sang, and also the Grasston Male quartette, of which A. T. Westram and three Hellzen brothers are members. Music was rendered by Mrs. Carl Eklund. Mrs. Martha Eklund (nee Anderson) was born in Romsjo Socken, Hellsingland, Sweden, January 2, 1856. At the same place she was married to Mr. Eklund on October 10, 1878. Eleven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Eklund, only four of whom survive their mother. In June, 1894, Mr. and Mrs. Eklund immigrated to America, first locating at Rush Point, residing there for four years. After that they lived for twenty years in the town of Royalton, Pine county. During the last nine years they have made their home in Grass Lake township, where Mrs. Eklund passed away at the age of 71 years, 9 months and 15 days. The deceased is deeply mourned by her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Albert Johnson, Mrs. Charles S. Johnson, and Mrs. Wilfred Roulston, all of Duluth; and one son, Nels M. Eklund of Grass Lake; fifteen grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers in Sweden; and a wide circle of friends and other relatives. Mrs. Eklund was baptized in the year 1898, while she was a resident at Rush Point. In 1899 she became a member of the Royalton Baptist Church. On the 14th of July, 1906, she joined with the Grass Lake Baptist Church. At the time of her death she was a member of the Grasston Baptist Church. All of the children, with the exception of Mrs. Albert Johnson of Duluth, were in attendance at the last farewell for their mother. Those present from afar were: Mr. and Mrs. Charles S. Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Roulson, Mrs. Axel Anderson, Albert Johnson, Mrs. Charles Frank, Miss Doris Johnson, and Axel Nyquist, all of Duluth; Raymond Johnson, John Olson, Mr. and Mrs. Axel Magnuson, Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Wicklund, Clarence Wicklund, Miss Ida Eklund, all of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Jacobson, Sam Jacobson, Mrs. Mary Meline, Miss Minnie Meline, Clifford and Edwin Meline, Peter and Nel's Nelson, all of Fish Lake. A very large number of friends gathered at both services to pay tribute to the departed."
