Doris A. Ballard, 69, of Olathe, Kan., formerly of Columbia, died of heart disease Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, Kan.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 20, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Overland Park Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ballard was born Nov. 4, 1930, in Columbia to Grover and Juanita Wood Thompson.
She married Robert Ballard in 1948.
She graduated from Hickman High School in 1948. She was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Olathe. She had worked at Luminous Neon and at Dillards Department Store.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Ballard of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., and Scott Ballard of San Diego; two daughters, Cheryl Ballard of Crookston, Minn., and Linda Ballard Sweet of Hutchinson, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a great-grandson.
