She was 16 years old when she immigrated from England to the United States in 1862/3. This was during the Civil War. When she arrived in Missouri by train they joined a wagon train taking them to Salt Lake City, Utah. It took 6 months for the 60 wagons pulled by ox teams to reach their destination.
In 1864 she married Hugh Johnson who was a Civil War Veteran. He died in 1877 at Winnemucca, Humboldt County, NV from pneumonia. They had 7 children but only 2 were living when Elizabeth died; Nellie Johnson Despain and Henry J. Johnson. A third child, Daniel Hugh Johnson was born 12 September 1871 Paradise Valley, Humboldt County, Nevada.
She married second to Daniel Lynch. They had two children.

In 1888 she moved to Duck Lake, Lincoln County, WA after Daniel passed away.
She married Richard Brenchley 3 November 1888 in Sprague, Washington.
In the 1900 United States Federal Census she said she had 9 children and only 5 children were still living. She emigrated in 1863 from England.
She was descried as "an unusually intelligent woman" and a person who was very interested in what was going on in the world. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters and the Rebekahs.
After a lengthy illness she died at her home.
