Joseph Heck Dies; Funeral To Be Friday
Joseph A. Heck, 46, of 1727 W. 6th St. who was with the Iowa State Highway Commission, was dead upon arrival at Mercy Hospital early today. Death was caused by a heart attack according to Scott County Medical Examiner Dr. R.M. Perkins.
Born in Buxton, Mr. Heck had lived in Davenport for 30 years. Formerly, he was with the Frank Foundry for 14 years.
In 1962, he married Mildred Grigg.
He was a veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Clifford (Joyce) Stedman, Mrs. Donald (Barbara) McCoy, and Miss Edith Ann Eckhardt, all of Davenport; a son, Joseph A. Jr., Davenport; six grandchildren; his step-mother, Mrs. Eveline Grimes, Davenport; four step-daughters, Mrs. Jim (Shirley) Miller, Mrs. Darrell (Violet) Wade, and Miss Iris Hartley, all of Davenport, and Mrs. Paul (Connie) Six, Burlington; three step-sons, Stanley, Phillip and Walter Hartley, all of Davenport.; two sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Helen) Wagner, Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Charles (Alberta) Olson, Colfax, and two brothers, Donald Hartman, Cedar Rapids, and Clifford Shooley, Newton.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the McGinnis Chapel, Davenport, with burial in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal.
Visitation will be after 7 p.m. today.
