Mrs. Lonnie Flynn Bankston, daughter of the late Steven Flynn and Mary Jane Bennett Flynn, was born in the Loranger Community on August 28, 1877, and died at her home on December 31, 1950. She was the wife of Peter O. Bankston, who died December 31, 1936. She spent her entire life in Loranger. She drove the first school bus (with horses) to serve the Loranger school. She was a member of the Loranger Methodist Church and a member of the Women's Society of Christian Service.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 2, in the home, with interment following in Lanier Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Mrs. Bankston's grandsons, Charles, Clarence and Wilson DePhillips, Cleo Bankston, Ralph and Adrian Calmes.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Tom Calmes of Baton Rouge and Miss Louise Bankston of Loranger; two sons, Leon of Husser and Roy of Loranger; three sisters, Mrs. Winnie Husser of Amite, Mrs. C. Husser and Mrs. M. J. Forbes of California; one brother, Felder Flynn of Mississippi; nineteen grandchildren and fourteen great, grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were one brother, Willie Flynn; two daughters, Mrs. Edna Bethel and Mrs. Albert DePhillips; and a son, Pvt. Millard Bankston, who died this past December 7th.
