Services for Joseph E. Johnson, retired farmer who died at his home, 242 Conger St, today at 9:30 A.M. following a heart attack, will be held Wednesday at 2 P.M. at the Assembly of God church on Glendale St. here. The Reverend Walter Spain and the Reverend Blythe will officiate. Burial will be in the Centerville Cemetery near Medina, with Lanier Funeral Home in charge. He was 75.
Mr. Johnson was born in Madison County, near Beech Bluff. He was the son of the late Reuben and Sophina Nobles Johnson. Mr. Johnson was married on September 26, 1902, to Miss Etta Johnson, who survives. He later moved to Gibson County, where he was engaged in farming for about 30 years. He moved to Jackson in 1944 and was a member of the Assembly of God Church here.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Bert Johnson of Medina and Mrs. Joe Johnson of Humboldt-, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The body will be at the family residence until time for services. Pallbearers will include Ray Howell, Jesse Irvin, Alvy Irvin, Richard Edmondston, Phil Replogle and N.H.Everette.
