Nellie Byrd Ward, age 94, a native of Leakesville, MS and a resident of Mobile, AL passed away on Saturday January 15, 2011 at a local hospital. She was a member of Cypress Shores Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Otis M. Ward, and her parents James and Illa Beard Byrd. She is survived by her son Ray O. (Lois B.) Ward of Petal, MS, two daughters Carmeleita (John) McDavid of Gulf Shores, AL, and Dorothy W. Bell of Bay Minette, AL, ten grandchildren, numerous great and great great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of Pine Crest Funeral Home on Monday January 17, 2011 at 2PM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 1 until 2PM. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
