ABBEVILLE - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2010, at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, honoring the life of Heber Dovaughn Harris, 80, who died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at Lafayette General Medical Center.

He will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery with Pastor Robert Welsh officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Eric Harris, Andrew Harris, Christian Harris, Ricky Trahan, Ike Galyean and Ed Devoltz. Honorary pallbearers will be Lance Lopez, Jonah Harris, Megan Harris, Hannah Harris and Whitney Harris.

He is survived by his wife, Geneva Mae Jordan Harris; two sons, Ronald D. Harris and his wife, Janelle, of Lafayette, and Randal Harris and his wife, Stacy, of Richmond, Texas; seven grandchildren; one brother, Hank Harris, of North Dakota; two half sisters, Charlene and Lois; and two step sons, Wayne Brian and Jonah Brian.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elva Jean Devoltz Harris; parents, Heber Henry Harris and the former Mable Baker; and brother, Donald Gene Harris.

The family request that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Thursday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. with a Masonic service at 8 p.m.; Friday from 8 a.m. until time of service.
