Michael Allen "Mike" Grantham, 43, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010 after months of declining health related to vasculitis. The family thanks all the nurses and doctors for their support during Michael's hospitalization.
Michael was born April 16, 1966 in Wichita Falls, TX to Needom Carroll Grantham and Vicki Stubbs Grantham. After Michael's parents divorced, Mike's mother relocated the family to Raleigh, North Carolina where he lived until his death.
Michael married Tracie Lynn Tomlinson in 1991 and they had two daughters, Crystal Lauren Grantham and Brittany Lynn Grantham. Although they were divorced at the time of his death, Michael and Tracie had remained friends. Michael was a wonderful father and loved being around his daughters and spending time with them.
Michael grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, and attended Broughton High School in Raleigh, NC. He will be remembered for his generous spirit and positive outlook on life and a laugh you can't forget. Mike didn't let his disease stop him from living life to the fullest.
Michael loved music, especially classic rock, and working outdoors, but most of all he loved spending time with his daughters Crystal and Brittany.
Michael is survived by his daughters in Raleigh, NC; mother of his children, Tracie Lynn Tomlinson Grantham of Raleigh, NC; father, Needom Carroll "Butch" Grantham of Plano, TX; mother, Vicki Leigh Stubbs Grantham of Raleigh, NC sister, Stephanie Leigh Grantham of Burlington, NC; half-brother Howard Grantham of Nevada; half-brother, Zachary Grantham of Sarasota, FL; nephews, Christopher Taylor Grantham of Clearwater, FL and Evan Waverly Grantham of Nevada; great niece, Abigail Marie Grantham of Clearwater, FL; uncles John Howard Stubbs of Raleigh; David Allen Stubbs of NC; Sharon Stubblefield of Nevada.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandmother Catherine Kelly Grantham in 1990, grandfather NC Grantham in 1993, half-sister Kelly Grantham in 2005, and grandmother Georgia Mae Heacox Stubbs in 2008.
