Garland – Graveside services for Pauline Tinsley Parker, 78, of Garland, are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Collinsville Cemetery with the Rev. Noble Pilcher, retired Methodist minister, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.
Mrs. Parker died July 8, 2001, in Garland.
She was born Nov 5, 1922, in Grayson County to J. Paul and Lignum Vitae Tinsley. On Feb. 14, 1951, she married James L. Parker. She graduated from Gainesville High School in 1941 and attended Gainesville Junior College. She worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell in Gainesville and Dallas before her marriage. She was past president of the Garland chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Daughters of the American Colonists. She enjoyed poetry, history and genealogy. She won various awards for her poetry and was a member of the Garland Poetry Society and the Texas State Poetry Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will be at the Williams Funeral Home in Garland from 6 to 8 tonight and at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. - - - - Daily Register (Gainesville), Tuesday, July 10, 2001
