Bertram, February 14 – C. C. Hodges, 82, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. A. Reynolds, following an illness of several weeks.
Mr. Hodges was born in Scott county, Arkansas, on March 19, 1844. He was a veteran of the civil war, having served four years in the Confederate army with bravery and distinction. He was classed as one of the boy soldiers, having volunteered when he was a young boy. Mr. Hodges came to Texas during the civil war. Most of his life was spent in Burnet and Williamson counties.
He was married in 1866 to Miss Ann Askew at Georgetown, and to this union six children were born, three girls and three boys. The children who survive him are: Mrs. A. H. Reynolds of Bertram, Mrs. Will Klose of [Ogles], Mrs. F. W. Pearce of Georgetown, and J. A. Hodges of Bertram. Mrs. Hodges died about 10 years ago.
Interment was in Bear Creek cemetery.
