Berniece was born in Wattis, Utah on October 31, 1920, afterwhich she and her family moved to Hiawatha, Utah, a small mining town near Price. After moving to Sanpete County she met and married Vearl Louis Anderson of Ephraim, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They later moved to American Fork, Utah in 1953 where they built a home east of town. Together they raised five children: Sandra, Gerald (deceased, 2000), Richard, Karma, and Stephen. Berniece had a keen interest in reading and was seldom seen without a book. Her love of reading and her example led her children to all develop a love and respect for the written word. She enjoyed gardening, rendering service to others, spending holidays with grandchildren, and fulfilling various church assignments. She emulated the teachings and example of Jesus Christ throughout her life and saw all three of her sons and numerous grandchildren serve full-time missions for the Church. She was reunited with her eternal companion on January 6, 2011 when he passed away.
