Raymond "Ray" Pack Abilene, TX
Raymond "Ray" Pack, 76, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016, at his home. Services will be 2:00 PM Monday, May 16, 2016, at Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel in Merkel with Pastor Kerry Pack officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.

Ray was born March 24, 1940, in Stephenville, Texas to Dick and Caldona "Toad" (Owen) Pack. He married Kathy Carter October 14, 1964. She preceded him in death December 3, 2009. Ray was a self- taught musician since the age of ten. He played all stringed instruments from the guitar to the mandolin. He also sang and played the harmonica, piano and keyboard and was a member of the American Federation of Musicians. In 1969 he played at the Grand Ole Opry as a guest of Roy Acuff, and in 2006 with Roy Clark during the West Texas Rehab annual benefit in Abilene. Ray was an artist, loved antique cars and woodworking. He was a member of the Noodle Baptist Church.

Survivors include sons, Andy Langston and wife Melinda of Abilene, Dennis Langston and wife Leigh of O'Fallon, Illinois; granddaughter, Alexis Langston of Abilene; sisters-in-law, Linda Pack of Hawley and Coleen Pack of Abilene; and uncle Raymond Owen of Ft. Worth.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brothers, Dickey Pack and Danny Pack; and sister, Peggy Light.
