Karlee Biggs Burton
July 28 1929-Feb. 17, 1996

Karlee Biggs Burton of Corvallis died Saturday at his home. He was 66.

He was born in Ontario, Ore., to Thomas Biggs and Viola Cinderella Blodgett Burton. As a child, he lived in several cities between Huntington and Portland while his father worked on the railroad.

He graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in business, then joined the U.S. Navy. He served in the Korean Conflict from June 1950 until his honorable discharge in April 1954.

On May 15, 1954, he married Arleta Ann Hug in Portland. They made their home in the Willamette Valley and he sold ladies shoes, first at Burch's in Eugene, then at the Clothes Tree in Corvallis.

He changed careers in 1986 and went into real estate, first as an appraiser, then as a Realtor for Century 21 Shamrock Realty, a position he maintained until his retirement in January of this year.

He was a member of the Board of Realtors, Springhill Country Club, the Corvallis Elks Lodge and Corvallis American Legion Post No. 11. He enjoyed photography and loved to play golf and travel.

He was preceded in death by an infant son in 1957.

Survivors include his wife, Arleta Burton of Corvallis, son Glenn Burton of Portland, daughter Debbie Maier of Kennewick, Wash., brother Gary Burton [Gary Duane Burton] of Keizer, and four granddaughters.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20 at DeMoss Durdan Garden Chapel.
