Patsy Ruth Lawrence Prewitt of Austin, Texas passed away March 22, 2010 from the arms of her loving family to the loving arms of her Lord. She was born on January 12, 1941 in Temple, Texas to Rupert B. and Obelia Lawrence and raised from an early age in Austin, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Sylvia Blackwell; and a niece, Carol Alba.

Patsy is survived by her loving husband of forty years, Albert Larkin Prewitt, whom she met on a blind date arranged by his Aunt Opal, a co-worker; and her beloved son, Kevin Prewitt and his wife Kristi of Austin, Texas who are soon to be adoptive parents of baby Brooke. Patsy was the third oldest of five sisters who remained very close throughout their lives. She is survived by her three sisters, Billie Lawler, Betty Brown (Clarence "Guy") and Linda Perry (James Allen) of Austin. Patsy is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families who dearly loved her.

When South Austin Baptist Church was formed, Patsy was a charter member and a Sunday School Teacher. She was a faithful member of the First Independent Baptist Church. Patsy held her God, church, family and friends very close to her heart. She looked forward to regular visits with family and a weekly lunch with ladies from her church who she affectionately called "the church ladies."

Her brightest moments were those which included family and friends visiting her home. She always made an effort to make sure that special treats were available for guests, especially the children, and was adamant about making her chocolate cake for special occasions. As a result, most family events were held in her home. All the family eagerly looked forward to "Aunt Patsy's" annual Christmas party.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue. Funeral Service will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel with Pastor Mike Marcellus officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Oaks Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Independent Baptist Church, 8401 Bluff Springs Road, Austin, Texas 78744.
