OKLAHOMA CITY — Funeral for former Indiahoma resident Lavell Kassanavoid,
72, Oklahoma City, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Comanche Nation Funeral
Home Chapel with the Rev. Reaves Nahwooks officiating.

Mr. Kassanavoid died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, in Oklahoma City.

Burial will be at Post Oak Cemetery, Indiahoma, under direction of
Comanche Nation Funeral Home.

He was born Aug. 22, 1931, to James and Mary Kopaddy Kassanavoid. He
attended school at Indiahoma and Fort Sill Indian School. He served in the
Navy from July 12, 1950, through May 12, 1954. He was a Ship's Serviceman
Third Class, USN. He was stationed in San Diego, Calif., and NSCS Bayonne,
N.J. He also served aboard the USS Meniaus and the USS Leyte. He married
Dorothy Pratt Kassanavoid on Nov. 10, 1966, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He
has sold furniture in Oklahoma City since 1956. He was a member of the
Comanche Tribe and the Post Oak Mennonite Brethren Church.

Survivors include a son, Vernon, Oklahoma City; a granddaughter, Malissa
Whiteshirt, Harrah; two great-grandsons: Joseph and Bruce; a special
cousin, Geneva Radney, Oklahoma City; a special aunt, Edith Kassanavoid,
Indiahoma; two step-daughters, Judy; and Jacquline Gatlin and her husband,
Randy; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers: Forrest
and Merritt Kassanavoid; a sister, Imogene Harris; and a great-grandson,
Warren.
