Born at the family farm in North Pelham near Fonthill. She served as a nurse in Halifax during World War 2 and later worked for the government in Ottawa. Married Len Hobbs on September 19, 1953 at the farm. Raised two foster children Rachel and Kevin. Rachel married in 1964 while Kevin was adopted in 1968. Miriam and Len ran a variety store in Hamilton untill they retired in 1984. Len died of cancer in 1992 and Miriam lived with Kevin untill her death at age 86. Her ashes were placed with Len`s at the graves of his parents as well as with her brother Wessel Horton at North Pelham Prebyterian Church.
